[Figma Review]Figma 082 - Megurine Luka

Swayed by the wind her vivid pink hair flows within her caressing fingers. Within a glance, one could easily distinguished her presence from her goddess-like figure. Her soft-tenor voice resonance with her surroundings. Megurine Luka.
Luka is
a Love
ly figma

.

Yes, that should be my first sentence to open this review, today.  It was a great pleasure to know that you guys are still alive and kicking, sorry for the late update, I swear I'll write more often in the future, I promise. Why is it late you ask? It has something to do with the cargo company one of my trusted seller's fault. Which was then delaying my lovely figure E.T.A to my lair thus delaying the review, that is my stupid reason at an attempt to divert your attention from why I've been neglecting my site.Maybe it's just me but after Miku, there's nothing more appropriate than having a Megurine Luka as the second review. I know, it should have been Signum's but deep inside my heart, I was probably to stingy to share it with y'all :D.

Now on to the review, as you might have guessed, Luka is another Vocaloid, just like Miku who were reviewed earlier, at the end of last year. Luka was meant to be the adult vocaloid, based on her voice and figure. She did turned out to be sexy and her role of onee-chan is perfect, sadly she didn't sounded all that sexy when it comes to her singing :(. Oh well, it's a man made program so what the heck, I bought the figma for the looks, not the sounds anyway ;).But Luka sounds cute, you might want to check on this video, it's Luka covering one of many Touhou Song, Bad Apple.

Here's a little something from Vocaloid Wiki for you guys to get to know Luka  a little better.

"Released on January 30th, 2009, Megurine Luka (Japanese : 巡音ルカ Megurine Luka) is the third Vocaloid2 in Crypton's Vocaloid2 Character Vocal Series. Her surname combines Meguri (巡, circulate or around) and Ne (音, sound), while the name Luka invokes the homonymous Japanese words of "nagare" (流, flow) and "ka" (歌, song) or "ka" (香, scent); thus making "songs to all around the world as scent spreads." Yū Asakawa (浅川 悠) provided the voice for the "cool, somewhat mysterious" character"
YYEEEEAAAAAHHH
I think that's enough of a brief introduction of Luka, now we can move into the review.

Introduction

This figma was released back on December, but due to some stupid cargo problem, I had to wait a month after the release before I could get my hands on these tiny little Ojou-sama. Megurine Luka is an original release, but I am surprised to know that her box is Nanoha-box-sized. A great exaggeration if you ask me, considering they could do another option which is using double blister like Billy's or Dragon Knight's. All in all, it's all well :).

Packaging

In contrast with the Live Stage box, this box emphasized the Vocaloid theme around the box, as you can see in the picture below, it's all about Luka and Vocaloid. It adapted the theme from the previous Original Vocaloid Figmas, but it's bigger for sure.
It was all good, I love the design to bits, now on to the inside.

A quick glance from the blister, it's a pretty figma right? It's my main reason to bought her, and I'm really glad I did, it works out better than I've expected.

The Figma

The figma, being a regular release it still has a lot of fine details on every, yes, EVERY edge of the figure. I literally in love with the dress, and how the cut reveals those irresistible 'drumstick'. :3Now for the breakdown:
  • A Megurine Luka Figure
  • A set of stand and the base
  • An extra faceplate
  • A Tuna, Super Tuna
  • A set of retro microphone
  • Ten pair of hands
  • Figma plastic Bag
  • An extra jock
This is pretty Interesting, I dont get a manual from the factory, and there's apparently a defect on the hair parts where a slight part of the bangs have a spot of different layers of paint.

Paint and Details

No sloppy jobs, as per usual, Max Factory keeps the standard high by presenting us a nice detailed figure with  superb articulation. it's stays to it's original design, and I'm surprised they give us a glossy finish to the dress. Which is way to cool!

Ohma San is giving an introductory
ah I had to trim this little buddy down, it doesnt really fit in to the hole behind Luka's back so I think, rather than trimming the figure, I'll just trim the jock, it doesnt stand out anyway.

A set of Luka's photos with her Segaprize version
With her
evilcute friend, the
almightyfamous diva Hatsune Miku.

Articulations

Articulations are well, what can I say, superbly done, although her skinny arms size didn't match quite right with the size of the ball joint making it a bit weird when luka had her arms straight. It looks like there's an annoying bulge on her elbow. Thus is why all of Luka's photos will be dominated by having her arm folded. It's quite a shame for Max to overlook this.

In the end, it sure does lots of poses.

I just love this shot
moving on to the next category :D

Playability

Despite of the looks, Luka had one big problem, yes, her skirt. That big, round skirt limit her movements so bad it take me a minute or more to balance her on her feet :(. In contrast with Miku's miniskirt who gave us the freedom to do whatever pose we'd like, this figma is lacking on that department. But it's all good, seriously, by the looks alone, I forgive Max already.

You surely don't want to miss this, especially if you're a regular listener or a hardcore fan of Vocaloid songs, it's always a good thing to splurge a bit just to get them in your shelf. Not to mention, if you have Miku both of them complement each other of course, it will be better if you also in possession of the duo Kagamine Rin and Ren (which, until now I haven't been able to get my hands on) and you've formed yourself a complete band. Now to wait for Kaito and his popsicle.

Price

It's a regular release, with a measly 300k you can take her home. Of course that is the Pre-Order price, which is lower than the usual standard but if you're lucky you might found another one or two of these within the range of 300k-ish. For reference, 300k Rupiahs is about US$34.I admit, for 300k you don't get that much of accessories, but you get a highly detailed figure (with some minor factory defects, confirmed by my friends :() and a Super Tuna.

I'm biased towards Vocaloid characters, my apologies.

Final Verdict

  • Packaging..................................... 9,0/10
  • Paint and Details........................... 9,0/10
  • Articulations.................................. 9,0/10
  • Playability..................................... 8,0/10
  • Price............................................. 9,5/10

Final Score : 46.5/50

It's on par with Figma Miku! But of course this is a biased opinion of mine, you guys can either trust me or judge it on your own, that is after you bought the figma of course. I'd say the skirt hinders her posing and I don't want to talk about her hair. It's pretty but it gets in the way whenever you want to pose her torso, it wasn't entirely her hair's fault, it's her stand and her extra jock who keeps bumping her hair are also at fault. Other than that, this figma is an example of money well spent.

See you on another review. Tata~
